Your thoughts on APM?

I swear I'm getting tired of all the idiots at replay sites rating replays low, or refusing to watch them, because one of the players don't have 400 APM.

Are you guys like this, too? Does APM really mean everything to most people? Am I alone in this or what?

That's right, I pulled a Ghetto. Though I must say Blogger is completely useless. It won't even let me make indents without going through the damn code and then adding "<P> TEXT </P>" all the damn time. What the hell.

Though It is pretty funny checking out all the websites that provide myriad ways of improving the crappy Blogger site manually.

Now I'm off to spread my e-name to all the world's SC2 forums!

Peace~

It matters to a point. The APM number itself doesn't matter very much. It matters when the APM translates into differences of ability to do things like micro. macro, and multitasking. Assuming equal strategizing and decision making (these things can help cover up deficiency in speed to a point) player say player A is quicker than player B and can macro more effectively. As the game wears on player A will generally just have more units to work with and will probably win. Or say player B is quick enough to macro effectively as well. But player A is quick enough to macro effectively and multitask .. say to harrass player B. If player B is too slow to fend them off while still macroing properly still he will most likely lose.

So imo the number itself doesn't matter much. But being a quicker player is generally advantageous. And there are points say your at like 30 APM where it just isn't enough to play effectively.

Good points. I find it particularly satisfying to be able to win a match against someone who has a clear advantage on me in terms of APM. Being able to out-strategize and have better timing than my opponent means more to me than being able to click faster. Do you all find it beneficial to spam click to keep pace, or are all of your clicks effective APM?

what's your APM in SC2? Can you see the APM at the end of the match or only in replays?

My APM can only be known to those that have played against me. =) You can see the APM in replays and as an observer via the overlay that you may have seen on our Battle Reports.
