Windows 7 rollback; cannot patch SC2.
by Mjolnir.yasu | 26/04/2010 23:05:10![]() So, a few days ago, there was a big deal about people not being able to patch their SC2 clients. I, however, was perfectly fine. I think this might have something to do with me patching 9 and 10 at the same time. Today, I was forced to System Restore to April 20th, due to a complete loss of my settings and some other stuff. One affected program was SC2. Now, that said, I've tried re-patching by both using the SC2 patcher (slow as hell, torrents don't work on campus) and Maged's direct links. However, I keep getting this error: The patch "pc-battlenet-h I don't know why it's not accepting my DLL file, especially because I'm not downloading a new one. I certainly haven't modified it myself! I can also confirm that Patch 8 was installed properly, since SC2.exe tries to download 9. Is there any quick insight into this? Otherwise, tell me the info you want, and I'll dredge it up. Blizzard beta specs: OPERATING SYSTEM:WINDOWS 2.6.1.7600 () CPU TYPE:INTEL(R) CORE(TM) I5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHZ CPU SPEED (GHZ):2.813 SYSTEM MEMORY (GB):3.99 GRAPHICS CARD MODEL:NVIDIA GEFORCE 9500 GT GRAPHICS CARD DRIVER:NVD3DUM.DLL I'm a nub, but I'm still better than you :> |

As such if a program has been altered after the restore was made than you may have issues running that program if you are restoring to a date prior to that change. In this case what is probably occurring is your registry keys for the game claim you are using one version where as the game is actually a newer version. Currently the only way to resolve this is to reinstall the game. You will also want to do a disk defrag after the game is uninstalled. by Charlesps | 27/04/2010 04:01:13![]() No, not currently. world of Warcraft has a chance of getting it to resolve by using the repair utility and doing a revert but even that fails more times than it succeeds. Maged might be trying to walk you through something we do not support but Maged is really helpful around here and in the old Battle.net forums. He knows his stuff.
