Will SC2 survive the economy?

Your hear it every day on the radio, how bad our economy is and the effect it's having on people all across the nation. You see it in the stores as you realize there's less people walking around and shopping than there normally is. And some of us have even experienced the recession first-hand as they've had their jobs cut, or witnessed several others getting laid off at their company.

There's no doubt our country is in a deep recession which is affecting many. Some may question the timing of StarCraft 2, which is sure to hit when many people have already tightened their budgets against unnecessary spending. Is it safe to assume the recession will have an impact on sales of Sc2?

The answers is 'Yes'. In fact, analysts are already estimating that releasing the game later in the year is likely to cost Activision-Blizzard millions in revenue. Releasing it in the first half of 2009, however, could lead to a substantially higher profit margin of sales because the full-blown recession won't have reached as many of the people who are to be affected by it.

So Blizzard, you should heed the advice of the analysts and expedite development of the game. Put your programmers and artists on over time so they can meet and exceed demand, and put the backburner on the beta so your fans can facilitate bug testing and balance.

People's jobs may depend on it...

When the game is ready, the game will be on store shelves.
