Why would I even bother with a Nydus Worm now

So now, the Overlord can transport, just like in SC1.

In SC1, the Nydus Canal could be built anywhere there was creep, and units could instantly travel from one canal to the canal it was connected to.

In SC2, the Nydus Worm can be built anywhere there is creep, and units can instantly travel from the Nydus Network to any Nydus Worm (and vice versa).

Gee. What an enormous difference. </sarcasm>

So, hardly anyone used the Nydus Canal, as I recall. Creep generation is a bit easier in SC2, and the Nydus exits are a bit more flexible in that they're no longer linked to just one canal.

But to generate creep, I need to bring an Overlord and keep it hovering nearby -- and if I do that, why don't I just transport units on it?

Looks like the Nydus Worm is quickly turning into yet another feature that had cool potential but is rapidly becoming vanilla.

Q u o t e:
Yeah, the Nydus Worm is exposed to fire just like any other Overlord, but its cargo is never at risk.

One Overlord carrying a bunch of units dropping them off, with enough time, could potentially spawn 4 - 6 Nydus Worms to rapidly deploy the Zerg's entire swarm from inside the network. Sure it will cost you, but at least you are only risking 8 control and a few static teleporters.

Yup, well said. Having an entire Zerg army flood into your base from multiple Nydus Worms is actually not that hard to execute.
