WC 3 & Mac & Widescreen: stretch problem

Hi guys,

for all who cannot solve the problem: I found a solution for unstretching in Mac OS X on a widescreen (for me 15″ MBP) and having black bars instead:

The tool SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/indexSRX4.html) does a great job. Just follow these steps:
1. download – install – open preference pane
2. “Color LCD” > “Custom Resolution”: Create new custom scaled resolution (e.g. 1200×900 on a native 1440×900 display).
3. Restart.
4. “Display Sets” > “+”: Select the new resolution.
5. “Application” > “+”: Select your “Warcraft III.app” and add the above created display set. Important: Select “Don’t let it change the resolution.” in the bottom drop down menu!
6. Save and close the preference pane.
7. Start Warcraft 3, go to video options and select the new resolution.
8. Enjoy playing the unstretched game.

Just a note from the Land of the Blues...

Theoretically and going by a strict definition of the Hacks policy, this could be seen by our system as a 3rd party program. Use at your own risk. If you get your CD keys banned after using this, make sure you remove it.

Just sayin'

I'm not saying that it's GOING to....just that it MIGHT. It alters the way the software was written which can be seen by our system as a 3rd party program or "Hack." I just don't want anyone getting in trouble for something this harmless.
