[War3] Cinematics won't show

Flesh_crawl

Hello!

I already found one topic on this issue, yet all anwsers there didn't work. Basicly here's the deal:

I use Warcraft 3, version downloaded from battle.net. Installation goes as planned, without any issues at all. There's no issue in game itself either, appart one this - cinematics won't show up; I can hear the sound without any issue, but screen is black all the time.

As of system specification:
- Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
- 3 GB memory
- Ati Radeon X1550 with updated driver + DirectX11
- display resolution: 1680x 1050
- OS: Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit

As of what I tried before:
- run game as administrator
- lower resolution, both ingame and destop

Cheers in advance for help,
Fleshcrawl

Flesh_crawl,

This info may be a little old but perhaps it will help anyways.

Please follow the instructions below if the in-game cinematic movies will not play.

Step 1:
Replace the Blizzard.ax file:
If the Blizzard.ax file is deleted, removed, or has become corrupted the Cinematics will not play.

To fix this, either move the Blizzard.ax file back into the Warcraft III directory or uninstall and reinstall the game.

Step 2:
Adjust your video settings for the cinematics:
Download and run the registry file located (http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/war3/other/Cinematics.reg) here.

This registry file will set the cinematics to display to the following:

* Height: 258
* Width: 320
* Bits per pixel: 16
* Refresh rate: 60 Hz

Flesh_crawl ,

Try the game in windowed mode and see if it helps. Other than that, try another video card if you have one available.

You can run Warcraft III in a window by following the instructions below:

You can right click on the Warcraft III shortcut on your desktop and choose Properties. In the target box after the last quotation, press the space bar once and type in -window

Your target line should look something like "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Warcraft III.exe" -window

Martyt

Flesh_crawl ,

Found an old post with a couple of possible solutions for you.

Run the game as an admin if you aren't already.

or

Set your desktop to 800 by 600, leaving the game to use whatever you want.
