Can't seem to resolve this issue. Anytime I try starting Diablo II this pops up.

Perhaps this arose out of updating the graphics card Geforce GT 555m
However I tried loading from the High Intel Graphics Card and still get the exception.

edit: I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Maybe I missed something on the provided support page regarding this topic. Any advice would be helpful.

I'd only use the manufacturer provided drivers. Reference drivers may affect the laptops ability to autoswitch with Optimus.

Generally, when I see this error in Diablo II, I recommend a full reinstall with the digital client(s) and emphasize that no addons (mods) be used at all.

The fact -w and -nofixaspect are working for you suggests a D3D issue still. Windowed mode forces the game into the DirectDraw (D2D) mode. You might try the D2VidTst app and see if you're able to set it to use DirectDraw there so it can be used full screen again without the stretching -nofixaspect does.

Don't set any compatibility options other than perhaps disabling desktop composition.
