Unable to connect to battle.net in dorm
by Tcaskey38 | 18/02/2009 21:47:39![]() Hi, I live in a college dorm and can't connect to battle.net for Diablo II. I am not banned and can connect at home, but not here. When I run the Bnet diagnostic tool i get the following:
According to the manual that came with the zip file, error 10060's description is:
I have tried connecting with my personal firewall turned off, and have had no success. I ran a tracert to useast.battle.net and the log reads:
I am pretty sure that the dorm's router's firewall is blocking the connection, and would like to know what ports or whatever I need to ask the IT department to unlock. Thanks |
by Lucytr | 18/02/2009 22:58:53![]() Your connection has been temporarily restricted from Battle.net. This restriction is realm-specific and can last up to 2 weeks. It can happen for any of the following reasons: - Rapidly connecting and disconnecting to Battle.net - Creating or joining numerous games within a short time period such as "Magic finding" or "Baal runs" - By the use of "add-on programs" - Chat channel abuse - Failed login attempts - In game latency caused by excessive spell effects We are unable to lift these restrictions early or tell exactly why the restriction was placed on your connection It's probably someone else in your building who got the restriction put in place. It's a sad side effect of sharing an IP amongst so many players. The universe is already insane. Anything else would be redundant.
