First of all let me say hello to everyone working on this game and thank you for offering the community a great game while giving us the change to try it first.

Let me also say that the game is great overall. I totally love the graphics and that's why I plugged in my 40" LCD to make the best out of it, while playing with everything set on Ultra Detail at 1920x1080p.

During my last games however, I've noticed a problem which happens only on Shakuras Plateau for some odd reason (maybe it has something to do with the scenery). So, after a few minutes (2-3 tops), the game starts to slow down, my 8800 goes nuts while power consumption goes up causing my UPS to start screaming because of overload. SC2 even gave me a message that my computer is slowing down the game and I should start closing background applications. Some times it just goes away, others SC2 freezes with a black screen and crashes a moment later or if I'm unlucky my UPS will die and leave me out in the cold.

I know that this definately a problem at my end, but what puzzles me is that this happens only on this specific map. All other maps (I play only 2v2) seem fine. And I've played a lot... I can assure you about that :p. Also, the problem disappears when I set the texture detail level back to low. Of course I'm using the latest nVIDIA drivers and my system is up to date and all patched up.

So this map is drawing lots of power to your GPU?

Could you please try capping your framerate.

Quit the game first, then look under your My Documents/Starcraft II Beta folder, you should find a Variables.txt file there. You can open this file with your favourite text editor such as Notepad, and add the following line:

frameratecap=60

You can change the 60 to a different number, just to see if this helps.
