Question to the Blues about SC2
by Tedturners.o.b | 14/04/2010 12:53:02![]() I've been playing SCBW like most in these forums since its release in 98. No game that I have ever played has had such replay value or been so addictive. My brother recently got a beta key and I have been playing when ever I get a chance. I have been very impressed. So many great qualities that made SCBW great are still very much in the game. I have noticed some things missing and I hoped that you might be able to shed as much light on these questions as possible. I haven't seen any chat rooms. Are there not going to be any in SC2 or just not in beta? I noticed you can't share vision at anytime. Is this just for beta or not a feature that will be in SC2? I noticed you can't unally or change allies during the course of the game (please don't flame), is this just for beta or no longer a feature? It has also been hard for me to find people after the game since their identifier is not shown. Is there any way now or in the future that it might be easier to chat with people you just played with? In SCBW a person has stats that were their total games played. Wins, losses, disc, and at one time their ladder rating. Will there be any stats like this or are all stats ladder based? I love the replays being automatically saved but they don't allow you to name them as they are being saved, making it hard to find games to show your friends. Is this just beta or permanent? When looking for a game to join I have seen that the games are named after the map that the host has choosen. Will the host be able to create a custom game name in the future or is this no longer available? All the games I have played I can see thru the fog of war where as in SCBW you have to explore the map to know its key locations. Is this just a feature for beta players to learn the maps and make it easier to play or something that all maps now have? I love SC2 and have been having a lot of fun playing it. I was just curious about some of these features. Thank you for your time and for any questions you might be able to answer. |

We are planning on adding them after the release.
What do you mean by not being able to share vision? Giving it to your opponents to show them how many expos you have or what exactly? :) As for being able to unally and changing allies it will definitely not be possible in ladder games to prevent abuse.
You can use 'Add friend' in the score screen available after the game and in game history in your profile. You can also see identifiers when you move your cursor to a player's name in rankings and such.
You can go to your profile and check other players' profiles to see stats.
Everything is a subject to change. If something is a cool idea and a good option to put into the game we are willing to do that :) The best place to submit your feedback is to use the Beta forums I linked at the bottom of this post.
This version of Battle.net that you can see is still very limited in options. We will be adding more and more options as the Beta goes by and the end result will definitely be different from what we have now :)
This is something that we consider to be very cool and helpful. It encourages players to play on new maps and not limit themselves to a few maps that they know well.
Thumbs up. Also we have dedicated StarCraft II Beta forums where you will find tons of information about features and where you can submit your suggestions, feedback on balance, report bugs and get help and discuss things in general. We would really appreciate if you used them for the future: http://f Thank you :) RTS Community Team Blizzard Europe |
