Playing with someone over my network.
by Serum.sickness | 06/04/2010 02:15:14![]() My brother and I were blessed with 2 beta keys, one for each of us. I have cable internet at home which is accessed through my dlink dir-655 router. Both computers have a wired connection to the router. When we played our first match it, Computer A was smooth, everything was perfect. Computer B was the one that had a problem. It was very choppy, it would have like 1 second freezes every 2 seconds. Sometimes it would just freeze up for a good 5 seconds. Both computers have the same settings in the router. Then I started to fiddle with ports to open and ended up opening a bunch of ports, specifically 1119-1120, 6112-6120. I also added Computer B to the DHCP reservation list. Still nothing. Then i thought it was just a hardware issue, so i opened up Computer B to find the video card polluted with dust. Got that cleaned out with a convenient tank of compressed air. And to my surprise it worked for 1 game. Then it started to become choppy again. At this time I tested just playing against the computer, and it was still showing the same symptoms. So I'm guessing it is a hardware problem. |
