Peer Block prevents Patching & Log-in
by Jaerin.alpha | 07/03/2010 22:29:01![]() I was getting the 'Attempting to contact Battle.NET servers' message after launching the game, first time, post-install. The patcher showed the latest message about the Korean version, so I figured the game was up to date. However, I could not connect, the game just hung in limbo while waiting to establish the initial connection to Battle.Net with my log-on (before getting to password, etc). I figured out Peer Block (a standalone firewall software) was blocking all TCP connections and the updater. Once I disabled Peer Block, I was able to connect to the servers. However it said "Invalid Version, please reconnect later". I closed everything and relaunched. Then the patcher actually launched properly and began the download for the patches. After I got patched, the game launched, and I was able to log-in again with my Battle.Net account and create my character. So anyone running Peer Block, you'll need to disable it to play otherwise you won't be able to connect to the patch-server. As an Aside: Blizzard, if the patch servers cannot be contacted at the game-launch, should the game not launch? Right now it is launching, even if the version is old (aka just downloaded from the main downloader), and even if the TCP connections are all being blocked. |
by Datth | 07/03/2010 22:44:33![]() We've requested for this to be looked into. The Launcher is the only way to get patches currently. Skipping the Launcher for any reason makes the game think that it's an invalid version. Tech Support http://t (not recommended) https:// |
