New Pc
by Sniperbwd.zerg | 09/03/2010 22:23:19![]() Hello my name is Brian Denison. This past week has been full of pain, suffering and agony on my part. Over the span of this week I have gotten both my video card and harddrive replaced and now Dell is replacing my fans, power supply and motherboard. Now here's how this all went down. Before my computer was perfectly fine, until I was playing Wow with Itunes on and noticed the screen freezing, and sound stuttering. I know this doesn't deal with Starcraft 2 but hear me out. Soon I noticed green blocks, white dots, and green vertical lines all over my pc. Well I contacted Dell and they ran a video card check on me. Well my Video card, a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT was officially anounced dead. Reason I found out later was due to The latest Nvidia Driver. I contacted them later to let them know about my issues and then not even a day later the new driver was removed. Also I informed dell of this as well thanks to Blizzard for you guy's catching the problem with the fans and drivers. Well ok got new replacement Video card same one from Dell under warranty thankfully and tried to fix issues. Well now Wow doesn't work period, and then my harddrive went. Dell sent out Tech to fix that part. Well now again I installed my previous programs, updated Nvidia driver to 196.34 as Nvidia told me to update to, and still I cannot play Wow period. Part 3 of my book..... Now I contacted Dell again because my fans were running extremely loud and causing my pc to go into sleep mode permantly and I could'nt get out of it unless manually restarting pc. Now this is where Starcraft 2 Beta steps in, I cannot play this game now at all. Screen flashes, sound stutters like Wow then shuts down Pc entirely. I hate to say it but at the moment I can't play anything made by Blizzard except for StarCraft 1 and Warcraft 3 works somehow. Now those who want to know my specs will be listed below and also I cannot run a DXDIAG test because there are no options for tests on direct 3d, direct draw, and hardware acceleration I think is the last one. As far as I know my Direct X is up to date and other games work fine no issues. Well bottom line is now Dell is sending out another tech to install a new motherboard, fans and power supply. Now I pray that this wasn't all due to StarCraft 2 and the Nvidia Driver fault. If anyone has any other suggestions besides reinstalling drivers galore, restarting my pc, installing other programs and reinstalling Wow I'd be glad to listen up. Here are my specs. Thanks Blizzard for the Beta I am happy I can play it but for now I can't play any Blizzard games and I don't understand whats happening. Please help me because I wish to play Wow and Starcraft 2 Beta! Specs are- Dell XPS 420 Vista 32 Bit (I think this needs to go) Quad Core at 2.39GHZ Logitech G15 Keyboard Logitech G7 Cordless Gaming Mouse 483 GB Harddrive 6GB Ram Logitech 5.1 Surround Sound System Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset/Mic Dell 22inch Monitor Direct X 11 I think thats everything. If you want me to run any tests, please let me know. Thank you all for your time and support. Brian |

BTW, I have that same model computer at home though I have the 8800 GT for the video card. Will probably replace it this year sometime and move it to a web browsing system. EDIT: I forgot to add, the reason you don't have those tests in your Dxdiag is they are not included in Vista and 7. you should still be able to create a Dxdiag and it should tell you if things are running properly.
