How often do you use the Xel'naga Towers?

I keep them manned as soon as and as much as possible, with Marines, Zerglings, or Probes, and it's surprising how many players ignore and just walk past them, en route to my or my ally's bases.

The extra vision can be very helpful in letting you know when to clog the ramps with more units or SCVs and so on.

Also handy in keeping a strike force hidden just outside the enemy's base and going in once you see their forces move out and away.

and it's kind of sad to still hear of people hacking when Blizzard have made it a lot easier with those towers and the pre-explored maps in SC2 :(

I find the Xel'naga towers to be a game changer; they are second only to scouting your enemies base. Knowing when my enemies are on the march has saved my proverbial bacon more times than I can count. They've also helped me to keep opponents that would be otherwise superior to me in ability from expanding. To answer your question, I use these right after I scout and I generally put a SCV, Probe, or Drone on them.

Mr. Cool, Mr. Right, Mr. Knowitall is through
Now my future’s so bright and I owe it all to you
Who showed me the light...
