Game just randomly closes

Every hour or so while playing, I will get a message saying "You have been dropped!" and then the game will just INSTANTLY close. It doesn't give me a chance to react or anything. I've noticed that it happens a bit more in custom games with my friend, but it still happens in matchmaking games which gets really annoying.

Also, sometimes the game just closes without the "You have been dropped!" pop-up.

I don't understand why any of this would be happening at all, because at the time that they do happen, my internet is still up and working fine.

Are you playing on a wireless connection by any chance? Lets get some more information. Go to start->run->type 'msinfo32'->ok->expand "software environment"->running tasks->click on one of the running tasks->press 'ctrl a" to select all->then copy and paste that information to your reply.

Can you also post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste the first half of the dxdiag file (down to the "Sound devices" section) into your reply.

Do you experience any latency? Can you post some network information?

* Firewall (McAfee, Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc.)
* Network Adapter and Drivers (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=21137)
* Router make and model (this should be printed somewhere on the front or back or bottom)
* Cable or DSL Modem make and model
* ISP (Internet Provider)

I have noticed, however, that my Xfire goes down at the same time sometimes, but everything else remains fine. Does SC2 automatically disconnect you if you miss like 2-3 pings? Because that's the only time that my xfire would ever disconnect. I haven't experienced any recurring problems like this with any other games, though; even though my computer occasionally misses a few pings.

* Firewall: currently using Windows Firewall, usually use Avast.
* Network Adapter and Drivers: DX9 ati2dvag.dll
* Router make and model: Wireless-G Broadband router WRK54G
* Modem make and model: surfboard sb5101
* ISP: EarthLink
Try playing on a wired connection and see if you experience that same thing. It sounds like an unstable connection is causing the issue.

Can you try bypassing the router and connecting directly to the modem instead? Lets see if the router has anything to do with the issue.
