Download authentication failed
by Lancedh | 02/09/2009 01:14:48![]() Greetings, I was planning on downloading some Diablo 2. But since I'm using vista, the game doesn't realy work when I use the CD (damaged orso, don't know). So I decided to download it from battle.net hoping that might work. After downloading the blizzard downloader I wante to start it and I get this error: There is a problem authenticating your download. Please go to http://www.blizzard. So I do and it takes me back to my battle.net account. I currently downloaded the blizzard downloader 5 times I think, and I still get the same error every time. Is anyone able to help me here ? And if maybe someone knows what is going to on with my diablo 2 CD. When I want to start the game, I go to a black screen with a white |, and that's it, my pc gets stuck. I have only tried it on a pc with XP, because I guess vista won't make it go any better. Some person teld me to try and make make the game start with an older windows version (somewhere in right click => properties), But that didn't work either. LanceDH |
by Lucytr | 02/09/2009 02:14:48![]() Hi, Lancedh, If you are receiving the "There was a problem authenticating your download" error message when attempting to download a game title from the Blizzard Online Store, please try all of the troubleshooting steps and suggestions below. The most common cause is a Windows user account experiencing issues. This can be related to actual user account corruption, a background application , or not having administrative privileges. 1) First try Selective Startup Mode and see if that prevents any conflicting background applications from causing an issue. You can find more information and detailed instructions for this mode on the World of Warcraft Closing Background Applications page: (http://u 2) Verify you are using an Administrator account. In order to set the downloader as Administrator Mode with Windows Vista, please follow the steps below: 1. Right click on the Blizzard Downloader file. 2. Select "Run as Administrator" Creating a new user account might also resolve the issue. For instructions on how to create a new user account, Microsoft's site contains guides for each Operating System: Windows Vista - Please follow the instructions for setting up a new user account on a workgroup, not a domain: (http://w 3) Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be limiting the bandwidth you are allowed per session, week, month, etc. If the solutions above do not resolve the issue, please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to inquire if they have any bandwidth limitations in place. 4) In some cases, we have seen this related to security software, network adapter settings, etc. For common issues and troubleshooting steps associated with the Blizzard Downloader, please go to our Blizzard Downloader Troubleshooting page at - (http://u 5) There have also been times in the past where the download itself has been updated. Unfortunately it is rare but if you were downloading the game files during this changeover period it may also cause this error as the current files you have are no longer considered valid. If the downloader seems to scan through previously downloaded files quickly before stopping at a certain percentage each time and giving you the error message, this may be the case for your download. You will notice the % going up rapidly before stopping at the same number each time. The way to fix this is to remove the partially downloaded files from your system and then restart a new copy of the downloader. When the downloader is first run it will ask for a location to save the downloaded files to, this will default to your 'My Documents' folder. Please delete or move the partially downloaded files and then re-download the downloader file from your Account page at http://w All knowledge is worth having.
