Disappointed.... Beta

So I'm pretty disappointed I haven't been chosen to BT SC2... yet at least. I've done quite a few beta tests in my day, and have several computers that would be beyond capable of running the game. Biggest games I've beta'd were Diablo 2, Sims Online, and Warhammer.

Yet, a friend of mine today sent me a screen shot of the beta home, after he was invited, and his computer can barely run the game....

What's up with that? Anyone else have a similar experience?

We're selecting testers based on multiple criteria including checking to see how different systems handle the game and the new Battle.net. It's nothing personal. We've been inviting people in waves and there is still some chance you could get in, but keep in mind, the beta isn't meant to be a preview of the game but to test balance, different functionality of the new Battle.net, and more.

Many people are also experimenting with (and getting used to) the new units, the new maps, the new strategies etc. True to the nature of an RTS, skill comes with time and experience. Few people are going to be able to hop in and be dominant and at the same time, you should be able to find the equitable challenges you're looking for and be able to improve your skills with time.

Also, keep in mind that in the original StarCraft, players learned the functionality of the various units, building and more via the single-player campaign as well as by playing the computer. We fully intend to allow that same sort of progressive skill gain in StarCraft II, meaning, a newer player should feel comfortable with learning from the single-player campaign and be able to take what they learn into the multi-player realm to work on improving their skills.

In short, don't be disappointed. It will all be worth it in the end, and the end result means the actual release of the game so that anyone who wants to play can go pick up a box and get started on their path to universal domination.

Oh can anybody see the light,
Where the morn meets the dew,
And the tide rises,
Did you realise no one can see inside your view?
