Downloaded the digital version of diablo LoD and it seems that it is not working.
I have registered my CD and all, every time i press "play diablo II" nothing happens.

We've heard of issues where some Vista and Windows 7 systems launch the game very slowly. Have you tried running the Video Test program in the Diablo II folder and picking a different game mode? You can also try running Diablo II in a window to see what happens. To do this, right-click the Diablo II shortcut and go to Properties. Go to the very last part of the Target window (past the last " mark), add a space, then type -w
Hit OK and run the game again.

We haven't had a problem with it on Windows XP yet. What happens if you tried closing all of your background programs? http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21052
