Diablo music
by Irokezu2 | 01/07/2011 21:40:08![]() http://www.youtube.c Why is it tha,t with all the advancements in computing technology is there, not a single game to rival d1? There is NOTHING out there that was even half as horrific/gothic as diablo. 4ck, even the music was scary as **** in diablo.. Today's rpgs don't even come close to it's terror. Diablo is basically the ONLY rpg to be classified as quality horror. Even horror movies can't compare with this. Grrr I miss the days when games were perfected rather than the same !!%# over and over with new graphics. I would like to hear more music like this.^ |

by Bashiok | 07/07/2011 20:24:21![]() We have a few different options you can pick from to display item names while they're on the ground. The default option is that names will show for 10 seconds when the item drops, and then the name fades out. You can hit Alt again to show them for another 10 seconds. (Diablo III default) You can also forego showing item names automatically when they drop and choose to just use Alt to show item names while it's held down. (classic functionality) You can also choose to always show item names, and hold Alt to hide them. (I'm not sure how useful this is, but it's there) There's also an option to make Alt toggle showing item names on/off. (my personal favorite) We're also looking to bring back the /nopickup option from Diablo II, but it's currently a nice-to-have feature and so may not make initial release. Additionally you can rebind any and all keys in the game, so you can easily make something like the Tab (for example) key show item names instead of Alt, if you prefer. |

When did it change? I moved it back to 1 minute from 5. |

I'm guessing a moderator changed it, I've been on vacation. Quite right though, doesn't really help much to change it. I can't wait for new forums! It'll be glorious. |

Good question. I don't know and don't use a mouse with a tilt wheel. I can try to find out.
That's not an option currently and as far as I know we don't have any plans to implement. I think the argument against such a thing could be that since you're able to pick up and immediately salvage/sell any items without going back to town, as well as just having a great deal more storage space, means there's a good reason to pick up everything. I suspect that may not hold true for all levels of play, but we'll see.
No, we want players to be clicking on items still to pick them up. Gold is auto-pickup because there's never a reason to not pick it up, but creating 'loot vacuum' mechanics for actual items removes several layers of player decision and interaction. |

Right, so for example, the three final skills of the barbarian tree all currently have 2 minute cooldowns. There are ways to augment those cooldowns slightly of course, but you're still going to want a mix of skills that complement each other. |

As far as I'm aware it will be the BlizzCon 2010 build, which has not yet been seen in Europe. While there some differences between that and what we have now, the content is still new for people that didn't make the trip to BlizzCon (ie 99.999% of people at Gamescom). |

No, no, of course not. I totally expect a veritable rainbow of positive reactions. From joy, to elation, to admiration, all the way down to a mild pledging of undying fealty. |

by Bashiok | 08/07/2011 03:08:18![]() Sorry for all the WoW-talk in advance, but I gots'ta throw down on Grug! ;)
(It's already in the game with patch 4.2.)
Correct, although there have been player-made mods (which most people use) providing this same information for years. Alternatively alt+tabbing out to search on a database site works similarly well.
Incorrect, it does not provide any strategy. It provides ability information. What spells and/or abilities a boss uses. Not how its used, when, how to deal with it, or the best way to overcome it. Considering that even with the Dungeon Journal now available, the new raid (Firelands) is insanely difficult for the vast majority of players, we have absolute proof that the information can be helpful to players understanding how they're being affected by abilities in the chaos of battle, but without giving them any real advantage to how good of a player they are. (Dungeon Journal doesn't make bad players good.) Before the Dungeon Journal, and definitely since, the majority of raiders are watching videos of how to beat the fights posted by cutting-edge groups that killed the bosses months prior on our test servers. What they watch is actual strategy. What the Dungeon Journal provides is basic boss ability information, what you choose to do with that information is up to you. Most importantly though (and the reason why it exists) it keeps people from having to alt-tab just to see what the hell that huge fireball was that just hit them in the face. How to best avoid it is still going to be up to them.
I think that we would totally agree that the Dungeon Journal is a horrible idea and would ruin the game if we were talking about it being included when World of Warcraft was first released. But it's almost 7 years old. That doesn't stop people from wanting to figure things out, and that's why we specifically don't provide them strategy, but sharing information like boss abilities really isn't that big of a deal when that kind of information is not only readily available from many sources, but has become a part of how people play the game. Also it shows a 3D model of the boss, their loot, their location in the raid, and is just overall really helpful. It caused a stir before we released it, but as happens so often, since it's actually been in the game people realized it isn't an "I Win" button and now think it's just a helpful tool. But anyway, no, nothing you mentioned will be in Diablo III, but who's to say 7 years from now? |
by Bashiok | 15/01/2010 20:59:40![]() I think we're closer to 70 now and still growing a little bit. But really having a bigger or smaller number with no frame of reference as to the types and amounts of content being developed is sort of meaningless. It's more important what's being worked on, who each person is, their abilities, and the end result than just a sum of the bodies assigned to a team. |

Of course. |
by Bashiok | 03/03/2010 01:19:20![]() We're planning for a Mature ESRB rating, which is what Diablo and Diablo II were rated. Of course the translation of that rating to the systems used in other countries may differ. come away young man where the ground is red and you need a mask to breathe. it’s been so hard but you’ll like the change if you just roll up your sleeves |

We've always had some amount of light radius, but it's definitely been tweaked and changed. |
