Diablo III Health Globes
by Jade_moore | 11/08/2010 13:24:45![]() From what i understand when a player kills a monster in D3 the monster has a chance of dropping a health/mana globe. Now i know that the mechanic of health/mana orb/potion are currently under work and much has changed that has not been revealed yet. But some players are happy of this as it takes away the potion spamming of D2. But i foresee problems, what if you to a situation where your fighting and no health globes/orbs drop. So to speak, in D2 when the player had to fight the Ancients on the pursuit of Baal. The fight was hard and required potions, if something like this was in D3 how would the player survive ? There is no petty monsters to kill for orbs and your gonna need health before you kill one of the Ancients who might not even drop an orb. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm worried about this new mechanic, but i know ill be happy with whatever the end results are. |

Rares and Champions have a chance to drop globes when hit. Uniques/Bosses.. |

As far as I know it right now the terms we're using and what they mean: Champions - small packs of tougher mobs that have a unique champion trait, one affix, increased health, damage, harder, etc. Rares - single enemy of great difficulty, can have a few affixes, they're named (randomly), much tougher, comes with a group of minions that inherit their affixes and bonuses Uniques - Unique boss monsters. Thousand Pounder? Maybe. I guess it just depends on what the ultimate use is for the models and such. Siege breaker will probably be unique. It's too big to have a ton of them spawning all over the place. [ Post edited by Bashiok ] |

It's actually higher. Regular monsters have a chance to drop a small health globe on death, champions have a chance to drop a bigger health globe once during their life and again at death, and rares have a very high chance to drop an even bigger health globe every quarter of their life and then at death. |

It's not really new information. The BC'09 demo had champions and rares and a bunch of affixes. But yes, a rare can roll an Electrified and Multi-shot affix already, as well as a third... maybe Teleport! The most annoying of all affixes! At least as a lower level barbarian... |

There are still health potions should you hit an unlucky streak, or more likely, you get yourself into a bad situation. |
