Creature type specific expldng plm explosions

Most people probably couldn't care less about this, but it still bugs the hell out of me to see, for example, the skeletal undead exploding in a violent burst of blood, guts 'n gore after being hit by the final stage (the internal/organ bleeding(?) DoT) of the monk's exploding palm.

If the blue one feels like elaborating a bit more on this (given that allowed to) - is it going to stay like this or is there a chance of putting a bit more effort into that by creating, let's say, creature category specific exploding palm explosions?

As I see it, it shouldn't be such a hassle to put all creatures appearing in the game into categories like, for example,

a) corporeal/fleshly (humans, demons, zombies, etc.),
b) skeletal/boney (skeletal undead, skeletal constructs, etc.)
c) ethereal/disembodied (ghosts, wraiths, etc.)
d) elemental (if there are such creatures)
e) ...

and associate them with one distinct exploding palm explosion like

a) explosion and bloody spray with gibs, guts and whatnot sent flying (the current one)
b) explosion and gray, dusty cloud with bones sent flying
c) explosion and glowy smoke/mist with ectoplasm or something sent flying
d) explosion and [effect according to element] with [parts according to element] sent flying
e) ...

Yes, explosions are awesome and cool and so on, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to implement them in a way that makes sense on the whole, would it?
Not to mention that those kinda unique explosions could probably be used on other occasions (outside of the monk's skill effect library) in the game as well.

We have tons of unique death types, the exploding palm effect you're talking about though is an effect of the skill itself though and not the makeup of the creature it's used against.

When you apply the bleed-DoT from Exploding Palm a beating heart appears over the creature it's applied to. After they take enough steps or are otherwise killed the heart explodes and deals AE damage. So it's not actually the skeleton exploding (although that happens too) that's causing the blood effect, but the skill itself.

Q u o t e:
So what you're basically saying is that when applied on a creature with no organs/heart at all (skeletons, wraiths, etc.) Exploding Palm somehow magically puts organs/a heart into them, so that they can explode w/ blood, guts and stuff?

...

Magic skills can do magic things!? wuuuuUUUUUAAHHH?

No, I'm saying that the blood explosion is the AE damaging effect of the skill that occurs when the subject dies. It occurs along with the death effect of whatever it's applied to, and isn't an increase of their normal death effect. So skeleton, or bat, or apple*, or chair*, or rock man**, or forum poster*** a huge blood explosion is happening regardless because it's what the AE explosion looks like.

*Exploding Palm cannot be applied to inanimate objects/destructibles
** Rock man refers to a person who plays rock music and not a man made of rocks
*** Please oh please oh please

3: Bash did you see the Meteor Kick skill I invented a few months back?

Boy did I!

No, I didn't.

Sounds cool. One of the rune ideas for the barbarian leap attack is essentially that same effect.

I like it better when you guys have things to complain about that actually matter.

Julian just slapped me upside the head - so the Exploding Palm effect seen from the BlizzCon build and screenshots since is actually just the rare monster death effect (attached to Exploding Palm for time's sake), which is a huge bloody explosion. Which actually isn't supposed to be a huge bloody explosion either but a fire and lava explosion; but it has a ways to go to make it look like it. But anyway, Exploding Palm itself is getting a monster agnostic treatment so that it doesn't imply blood and guts and is also readable as its own effect during the chaos of battle.

So it won't be monster-specific, but it's also not going to look like a blood explosion which isn't a blood explosion.

Aight?

Q u o t e:
Also are all bosses just inherently full of lava?

Not inherently. It's placed there with a piping bag.
