Cannot host starcraft mac - high latency
by Ue-jag | 13/11/2009 05:28:00![]() Hi, I am running Brood War Mac OS X Leopard and cannot host games because of high latency. I use two separate static IPs: 192.168.1.30 and 192.168.1.31 the IP ending in 30 usually works fine because I have DMZ enabled. although sometimes the game crashes when I try to enter a game lobby room, which I've fixed by closing Firefox... (if anyone has any suggestions I'd like to know, it only happens sometimes when Firefox is open). the main problem occurs when I am running on 192.168.1.31, I get high lat complaints even though I have ports forwarded properly and am not Blocking Anonymous Internet Requests. Thank you for any help! JAG |

Any kind of security software (Norton, PeerGuardian, MacScan, Little Snitch) can cause all sorts of connectivity problems including high latency. Another thing that can cause high latency is your DNS cache. Try flushing that. 1. Navigate to /Applications/Uti 2. Copy/Paste the following: For Leopard (10.5): dscacheutil -flushcache For Tiger (10.4) and Panther (10.3): lookupd -flushcache 3. Press return. 4. Test. Please, let me know if this works or not. Thanks! All knowledge is worth having. Click Here to take survey and let me know how I'm doing! https:// |
