Bnet 2.0 Chat Rooms - A Logical Comparison.
by Scottnoballs | 31/05/2010 12:55:30![]() Lets just for one moment make a comparison, between B.net 2.0 lack of chat room functionality and a Real Life social setting. To make this easy to read: An online gaming chat lobby written as normal. Real Life social setting to be underlined. To Start: - An online gaming chat room lobby, is much like a room full of people at a party. We go to either of these to meet, to organise and otherwise talk about things that interest us. - In a chat room there can be multiple text conversations going at once, in a room full of people there can be many different conversations going at once. The 'Problem': - In a chat room, the chat window can get cluttered with these multiple text conversations, making it difficult to read specific text lines from the conversation we are specifically interested in, this is known as SPAM. In a room full of people it can be hard to hear what the person next to you is saying due to everyone else speaking, and trying to speak over one another. Our (The Community) Solution: - In a chat room, i would tell the person(s) related to my topic of conversation to relocate to a specific private channel so we can continue our discussion easier and without interuption. In a room full of people I would tell those in my conversation to follow me outside, or to another room, where it is much easier to hear one another. Blizzards Solution: - Blizzard would delete chat rooms. Blizzard would delete the room where we meet and ultimately our ability to speak. Imagine a world where we could not speak? Peacefull yes... Conveniant, NO. *** DONT LET BLIZZARD TAKE OUR ABILITY TO SPEAK, SIGN BELOW*** |
