Black screen / system lockup?

This weekend, I was playing a bunch of 2v2 games with a friend of mine, we were on Skype at the time. I was Z, he was T - we'd just started the game, I was starting to build spawning pool / zlings, and then suddenly my screen goes black and my skype connection cuts out.

I thought it was an isolated incident, but then it happened last night every time I tried to play a game: I start out, within 3-10 minutes the screen goes black and my system seems to be in a total freeze: Alt+F4 doesn't work, Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work; the only thing that gets out of it is a manual hard reset - and even then, I'll get a "No Signal" error occasionally on the monitor, and need to reset a second time.

This process happened while I was playing as Zerg in full screen mode and playing as Protoss in windowed mode.

I have an Nvidia 8800 GT and am updating the drivers as we speak. But this literally makes the game unplayable, since every time I join a ranked match I have a very high possibility of having to forfeit by resetting my computer.

Cftfunk,

Can you also post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste the first half of the dxdiag file (down to the "Sound devices" section) into your reply.

Try updating to Service Pack 2 and see if that has any effect.

Cftfunk,

Q u o t e:
That may have fixed it. Did a full match against the computer last night and won without crashing.
Excellent! Go ahead and create a new thread if you have any further issues.
